Proper packing is crucial to ensure medications reach their destination in excellent condition. Follow these guidelines so every shipment arrives secure and ready to dispense — your care in packaging is part of what keeps the PrimePostRx marketplace trustworthy and reliable.

Preparing partial packs

Insert padding: Fill partially filled medication bottles with cotton to prevent movement.
Seal the bottle: Ensure the cap is tightly sealed.
Place in a plastic bag: Encase the bottle in a zip-lock bag for added protection.

Use appropriate boxes

Select corrugated boxes: Use your own corrugated boxes for FedEx Ground shipping.
Assess the condition: Ensure boxes are sturdy, with no damage or old labels when reusing.
For express shipments: Use FedEx Express packaging for overnight and 2-day shipments.

Cushion the inside of the package

Include adequate cushioning: Use packing peanuts, shredded paper, or bubble cushioning — a minimum of 2–3 inches of packing material around your medications.
Wrap each item: Wrap each medication separately, with cushioning between items when shipping multiples.

Seal the package securely

Use quality packing tape: Tape seams end-to-end with packing tape at least 2 inches wide.
Avoid unsuitable materials: Don't use masking tape, cellophane tape, or string for sealing.

Handling frozen and refrigerated items

Pre-cool products: Refrigerate or freeze items before packaging per the manufacturer's guidelines, and pre-cool the expanded polystyrene (EPS) container to hold temperature.
Packaging: Double bag or place products in a zip-lock bag — especially for liquids or perishables that might melt or thaw — so moisture can't leak in.
Add adequate coolant or dry ice: Leave space around the items, then pack enough coolant or dry ice in the insulated container, on top of and around the products, to hold the correct temperature during transit.
Use suitable boxes: Use double-wall boxes for all frozen, refrigerated, or dry-ice shipments, for proper insulation and protection.
Label the package: Place a refrigeration sticker on the outside of the box indicating the contents are temperature-sensitive.

Ensure accuracy: Include the signed and dated packing checklist with the shipment to confirm the contents are correct.
